Lowering Your Tax BurdenJune 12, 2012
I’m proud to be recognized as one of the most fiscally conservative Republicans in Congress. The National Taxpayers Union, Club for Growth, and Americans for Prosperity have all ranked me as one of the strongest and most consistent defenders of the American taxpayer.
The federal income tax system has become so complex that the majority of Americans need to pay for professional assistance just to file their yearly return. The burden that federal taxes and the IRS have placed on our families and businesses is one of the reasons I first ran for office in Georgia, and why I am a strong supporter of the Fair Tax. As I have said over and over, Washington has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Raising taxes on the American people is not the answer.
The Fair Tax would replace our current income tax system with a progressive national sales tax. This would end the need for complicated income tax paperwork as well as a majority of the Internal Revenue agents, ultimately saving taxpayer money.
